The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. (2 Corinthians 5:18 NLT) The message of the cross requires us to deny ourselves, forgive one another, love our enemies and serve each other. Craziness! But this is exactly who Jesus was and is. And he asks us to do the same. “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.’ ” (Matthew 16:24, NLT)
